ST. QUEEN JADWIGA’S LITTLE PEARL The St. Queen Jadwiga’s little pearl is awarded in the two categories: 1. The Little Pearl Statuette 2. The Rationale Little Pearl (little pearls for making a replica of racjonał) The laureates of the Little Pearl Statuette are awarded in two categories: 1. Adults, and 2. Students from the primary and secondary schools and from the university The Little Pearl Statuette for school children and university students is awarded based on the little pearl competition. To be qualified as the laureate of the competition the student needs to fulfil the following four criteria: 1. Student needs to be extraordinary talented in some domain, 2. Student has to have an excellent record of school/university achievements, 3. Student needs to stand in the defence of a weaker 4. Student needs to show an initiative and help other students with school work, 5. Student needs to be engaged in the life of the Catholic Church The Little Pearl Statuette for adults is awarded based on the recommendation of the Special Little Pearl Panel. Laureates of the Little Pearl Statuette receive Life Membership in the Queen Jadwiga Foundation. The Rationale Little Pearls will be used to make the replica of rationale (racjonał). Inspired by the great achievements of our Patron St Jadwiga Queen, we have decided to make a replica of rationale (racjonał) which was made of little pearls (see picture above). It is said that rationale (racjonał) was designed and most probably partly made in person by Queen Jadwiga. Kraków Bishops received rationale from Queen Jadwiga as a gift. It seems of great importance that it was Kraków Bishop Karol Wojtyła, who had worn rationale during Easter Mass and who was called to Vatican to become a Bishop of Rome as the first Pope of Polish origin. The Rationale Little Pearls, collected in order to make a replica of rationale, will be also the way of expressing gratitude to St. Jadwiga Queen for the John Paul II pontificate. Each collected 'Queen Jadwiga's little pearl' intends to symbolize a contribution to the cultural works which were inspired by St Jadwiga's achievements.
