BIOGRAPHY Prof. Zbigniew Leś, born
on December 08, 1956 in Krosno, is a scientist, artist
and political activist. Founder and director of the Queen Jadwiga Foundation
(QJF) and St. Queen Jadwiga Research Institute of Understanding (SQJRIU).
Co-founder, with his wife Magdalena, of machine
understanding - a new area of research aimed at building thinking and
understanding machine. A pioneer in application of neural networks in
aesthetic evaluation of the picture (painting), founder of the
Art&Science Gallery. The author of texts concerning philosophical aspects
of human understanding and machine understanding. Included in ‘Who is Who
in the World’ in the years 2003, 2005 and 2007. Member of the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for
Computing Machinery (ACM), the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the New
York Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of
Science (AAAS), the
Melbourne University Art
Society, the Melbourne University Cognitive Science Group and the
Institution of Engineers, Australia; engineering
